A network center encouraging museum visitors to explore the relationship
between Panama and the world using interactive information, live
feedback and connections with virtual and physical environments.
The exhibit is a large, enveloping space with glowing light,
color, and texture creating a riot of information to greet the
visitor. It has overlapping rows of large panels and monitors
displaying a mosaic of imagery. Skewed at different angles in
rows contouring the wall surfaces on the right and left, the monitors'
small, glowing interactive screens hang on flexible arms attached
to the walls between the panels.
The panels and screens entice the visitor to discover and dive
into the information they provide on Panama and its relationship
to the rest of the world. Included is a live projection of a webcam
within the Panama Effect, connecting the Panama is the Museum to other areas of the museum, and to virtual visitors
at partnering museums via the web.
